Seminar on Project Portfolio Management, Governance and the Role of PMOs in Building Effective Project Organizations
The awareness that good governance links with good project results grows among corporations and investors. It is one of the “hot topics” at all project management conferences and in recent publications. Special project governance conferences are now held to address the subject even better. While the project governance functions in an organization are increasingly well understood, the question arises how the different governance institutions (e.g. Steering Committee, Sponsor, PMO, portfolio management, program management, middle managers and board of directors) work together for effective and efficient project governance.
The seminar on Project Portfolio Management, Governance and the Role of PMOs in Building Effective Project Organizations provides insight into practical and relevant organizational approaches, tools and techniques. It is based on current research results and builds on many years of experience in implementing project management governance structures in organizations. It provides the base for cost-effective and timely achievement of organizational goals.
The 2-day seminar is held by Dr Ralf Müller and Dr Jerzy Stawicki on May 19 and 20, 2011 in Malmö, Sweden.
It addresses the roles and responsibilities of portfolio management, project governance, the PMO and the
interaction and collaboration among them. For requests and registration please contact
Seminar on Emotionally Competent Project Leadership
A recent article in one of the major German newspapers showed that about a quarter of all employees think about resigning from their job because of relationship issues with their supervisors. And about half of those who actually resign do this for the same reason. This shows the importance of and the need for “emotionally competent” interaction of supervisors (such as project managers) with the people they lead.
The seminar on emotionally competent leadership addresses this through the emotional (EQ), intellectual (IQ) and managerial (MQ) competences needed for appropriate leadership in projects. It starts with an introduction into the history of leadership theories over the last 100 years. Then the most recent school of leadership, the competency school of leadership, is discussed before the psychological leadership profiles of successful project managers in different types of projects are presented. Participants will have the opportunity to test their own emotional intelligence and to develop their own competency development plan for their particular project types.
The seminar is held by Prof Rodney Turner and Dr Ralf Müller and builds on their joint research studies and publications in the area of leadership. Participants will get a free copy of their new book “Project Oriented Leadership”.
